Business Coupling

Coupling is for small businesses interested in expanding or diversifying their range of services or products, without radically altering the structure or financial commitments of their business.

For example, London-based Rude designed T-shirts, but had no means of production. They joined forces with a businessman who had recently purchased an ailing textile factory. This operation was small enough to adapt its service to Rude's specific needs, such as changing product lines at short notice and experimenting with new production methods.

The manufacturer received a valuable financial boast to his business, while still retaining autonomy. Rude is now a leading producer of high-fashion T-shirts, worn by Madonna and Kylie Minogue.

Business Coupling can be applied to most types of SMEs and operate on a long- or short-term basis.

Business Partnerships

According to Bank of England statistics, the major problem facing small business is confusion over paperwork, regulations and VAT.

Partnerships is targetted at prospective and existing businesses, seeking permanent working partnerships with individuals or teams with resources, skills or credentials to enhance their enterprise. For example, an interior designer lacking business acumen may go into partnership with an accountant or business manager.

The right partnership would strengthen and improve the viability of many enterprises, and could help secure investor funding and loans. This section is also ideal for employees with a field of expertise who wish to start their own business.
